Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?
Pelvic floor physical therapy is a specialized form of PT that focuses on the muscles, nerves, and connective tissue of the pelvic region. These muscles play a huge role in bladder and bowel control, sexual function, core stability, and overall movement. When something isn't working the way it should, whether that's pain, leakage, pressure, or dysfunction, pelvic floor PT helps identify the root cause and get you back to feeling like yourself.

What Should I Expect at My Initial Evaluation?
Your first session is all about you. We'll start with a thorough conversation about your symptoms, health history, and goals. From there, I'll perform a full physical assessment to understand how your body is moving and functioning. You'll leave with a clear picture of what's going on and a personalized plan of care tailored to your needs. No rushing, no cookie cutter treatment, just thoughtful, individualized care from the very first visit.
How Long Are Sessions?
All sessions including your initial evaluation and all follow-up appointments are 60 minutes. That means you get my full, undivided attention every single time.
Is an Internal Examination Required?
Absolutely not. While an internal pelvic floor assessment can provide valuable information, it is never required. If you are not comfortable with an internal exam, we will never do one it's that simple. This is your body, and my number one priority is that you feel safe and comfortable throughout every session. There are many ways to assess and treat the pelvic floor, and we will always work within your comfort level.
Is It Just About the Pelvic Floor?
Not at all! The pelvic floor doesn't work in isolation, it's connected to everything. I take a whole body approach to treatment, looking at how your posture, movement, strength, and mechanics from head to toe may be contributing to your symptoms. Think of it like a puzzle my job is to find all the pieces and put them together so we can get to the real root of what you're experiencing.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Honestly? This is one of the most common questions I get and I wish I could give you a straight answer! The truth is, everybody is different. Some people feel significant improvement in just a few sessions, while others with more complex or long-standing conditions may benefit from a longer course of care.
What I can promise is that I will always be transparent with you about your progress. We'll reassess regularly, adjust your plan as needed, and I'll never recommend more sessions than I truly feel you need. Your time and your investment matter to me.
The best way to get a realistic idea of what your journey might look like is to book your initial evaluation from there, so we can have an honest conversation about what to expect.
Do I Need a Referral to Be Seen?
Nope! In New Jersey, you can come directly to a physical therapist without a referral from your doctor — this is called the Direct Access Law. You can book an appointment and get started right away.
In some situations, I may need to refer you to a doctor or another healthcare provider. This would happen if:
-
I notice during our sessions that physical therapy may not be the right fit for what you're experiencing, or your symptoms need attention beyond what PT can address
-
You haven't made reasonable progress within your first 30 days of treatment
This isn't common but your safety always comes first. If you have a doctor or specialist, I'll keep them in the loop about your care plan within the first 30 days. If you don't have one, I'll simply recommend that you connect with a provider of your choosing.
Do You Take Insurance?
I am currently out-of-network with all insurance providers. However, I provide a superbill after each session upon request.

What is a Superbill?
A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes everything your insurance company needs, diagnosis codes, treatment codes, and my provider details. You can submit it directly to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Here's how it works:
-
You pay for your session at the time of service
-
I provide you with a superbill
-
You submit the superbill to your insurance company
-
Your insurance may reimburse you a portion of the cost depending on your out-of-network benefits
At Pelvic Glow PT, we’ve chosen a private-pay, out-of-network model so we can focus 100% of our energy on you and not on insurance paperwork. This allows us to provide the high-quality, one-on-one care you deserve. While we don’t bill insurance directly, we’re happy to provide a 'superbill' for you to submit to your provider for potential reimbursement.
Because of current federal guidelines, we are unfortunately unable to provide standard physical therapy to those with Medicare or Medicaid coverage at this time. We’re happy to help point you toward a provider who can best serve those specific needs!
